How come Pet shouts don't affect all the pets within earshot? Isn't
that what shout skills area of effects are? I was thinking that other
pets don't understand you and thus they don't get the shout, but if
this is the case why have shouts then? Why don't they just use an
ordinary skill?

As strange as it may seems, try putting this in real life..
I have a dog, and you have a dog. If I shout something, I'd like my
dog to respond and you'll likely don't want your dog to respond to me
(since you're its master).
If my dog would be too far away (out of shouting range), then he
wouldn't comply as well.. :-)

And why they don't use an ordinary skill, might be that a shout gives
some advantages that skills don't. You can be affected with a shout,
and still use them other skills. On the other hand, you can only be
affected by one Shout at a time, so that asks for some thinking before
shouting.. ;-)

My apoligies if I sound a bit too weird, still way too early in the
morning..

Good analogy.
What do you mean you can only be affected by one Shout at a time?

They should allow pet shouts to affect all pets within earshot. Pets
would be stronger (maybe a good way to fight an mm?) I'm not sure if
it is only me, but I think pets are generally a weaker build to use
because of the lack of skills you can use with them. I mean to equip a
pet you need the charm skill. You might as well bring a skill to
revive your pets. That already takes up two skills. What more if you
wanted to heal yourself? (sure you could use heal as one, but that
would be a waste of an elite skill). That would be three skills. You
hardly get any left for a real build going unless you're in a team and
you have a combination of shouts. What are you thoughts on this?

I'd hate to have Symbiotic bond on more than one pet lol. That'd
hurt...
But yeah, good answer tribio.

But a replacement heal is Companionship if you have Eye of the North
that is...
Other than that, if Heal as One is your only healing option and you
don't want it, you'll have to rely on stances and power attacks from
your pet.
I forgot what this skill was called, but it gives you a little bit of
health each time your pet attacks, though I find it pretty crappy.

There is some synergy for shouts and Paragons. I run a Paragon Ranger
build that utilizes shouts, poison and the pet. On my ranger I tend
to use "Heal as One" as the elite and then you can use volley as a
cheap replacement for Barrage. Another interesting build is the
ranger/rit. Pet is optional but splinter weapon is wicked.

Pets with warmonger's weapon are quite effective in PvP.
