Iknow this printer works with Ubuntu (I use Xubuntu to be exact). And I can technically download either the RPM or DEB files directly from the site too. However, it is not needed out of the box with Xubuntu.
I assume you installed EndeavourOS to bare metal and are not running this on a VM?
Not sure if this would work on a VM.
Also, and more importantly, the AUR does not contain a package for MFC-L2740DW and trying to use MFC-L2700DW driver will not work.
Your image is fine.
One thing is with Brother networked printers I get the most consistent results with choosing
Internet Printing Protocol (ipp)
then on the next page
ipps://the ip address of your printer
Next, I went back and selected Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). Rather than provide an IP address I provided the host name (BRW90489A96863B). Which I easily found via my router. Which ultimately means I used ipp://BRW90489A96863B I left the menu selected as IPP Everywhere (which was the default) and clicked on modify printer, which completed the process.
If you stick around with Arch, and we hope you do, a tip is when compiling from the AUR it is best to just hit enter for every question and accept the defaults unless there is a known good reason to do otherwise.
Fairly new to Ubuntu, back from 6.1 version 5 years ago. I am now using Ubuntu 18.04, I am installing the drivers for my Brother MFC l2740DW from the terminal, I already printed a test page and try to scan on the simple scan utility, I am anyway stuck in the terminal to this message and I do not know how to handle it form here:
If you're using Windows and you've installed a Brother driver, VueScan's built-in drivers won't conflict with this. If you haven't installed a Windows driver for this scanner, VueScan will automatically install a driver.
I have a Brother MFC-2740DW that I have been using for many years. For over a year I have had it connected to the local network via wifi. It has a scanner function, which I normally use via the Printer application on my Mac. Today the scanner function is no longer present.
I found some advice online to reset the print system, which involves deleting the printers in the Printers and Scanners preferences app, then re-adding them back. I tried that, and still there is no scanner function.
I temporarily accepted an answer because the scan function appeared to have been restored. The scanner apps looks just like it used to. However, when I tried a scan, I get "Scanner reported an error" and "an error occurred while communicating with the scanner." So I am not out of the woods yet!
I don't scan very often. But over the last couple of years, every time I try to use the scanner function, the scanner icon is dimmed out. Rebooting printer and computer sometimes helps, but usually I have to reinstall the scanner driver, as described in my answer below.
My MBA running 11.3.1 no longer recognizes my Brother MFC-L2740DW printer for wireless printing. I know the printer is on the network, it is listed as a connected device on the router. I can connect and print by USB so printer is functioning. FYI also my iPhone and iPad are no longer able to connect to it. Is this a known issue? Is Brother no longer updating necessary drivers or firmware? Brother website lists this printer as being supported in OS 11, yet I am unable to connect and print wirelessly. The printer does show up in the MBA Printer preferences, but says "offline" when I disconnect the USB cable.
I deleted the printer listed in Printer System Preferences, then added the printer back in. That worked; I guess the old one was not part of AirPrint. I had to shut down and restart my iPad before the printer would show up, but it popped right up on my iPhone.
What is AirPrint?
AirPrint enables users to print wirelessly from within applications on Apple devices to AirPrint Compatible Printers. You can use your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to easily print via Airprint without the need to install drivers or configure the printer queue. Just tap 'print' and select your AirPrint compatible printer, and print!....It's that simple.
What You See is What You Print
If you can open it on your apple device, chances are you can print it with AirPrint and an AirPrint compatible printer. Airprint works with Safari, Mail, Photos, iWork, PDF's in iBooks and many third-party AirPrint compatible apps available from the app store.

Third-Party Apps
There are also a wide variety of third-party apps available to enable wireless printing through Apple devices, even to machines that are not natively AirPrint compatible printers. By sharing a printer installed on an Apple Mac or Windows Pc over a wireless network any printer may be able to take advantage of the AirPrint features. (An additional third-party app may be required to be installed on the local machine)
