So I was wandering if guided chaos is applicable to non-lethal (not life or death situations).

There are times when a drunken subject or a boisterous hooligan are starting (or threatening to start) a violent situation, and must be stopped. However there is no lethal intent, so ripping out eyes and crushing in wind pipes seem to be uncalled for (not to mention illegal).

So how would one use Guided Chaos in these situations? Should the holds and throws from other arts be introduced in these cases?

First i am not an instructor in Guided chaos.I am a long distance student of the art.I  am 56 yr old male who works as a doorman in a sports bar.I study this art from dvd's and the book.I practice with people who come to my house. You must stick with the prinicples of the art.For my own safety i don't want to over react or under react when dealing with drunk, high, or angry people.I have struck people on there arm's and they stopped fighting. You don't want to let people grab a hold of you or go to the ground with them.Be there but not be there. You have to sometimes give off a don't fuck with me vibe. This is a great art and it has helped me stay safe and working.

As we say in our books and dvds, when you train to fight for your life, you can always ramp down--but you can never ramp up. Instead of a gouge to the eyes or chop to the throat, you hammer fist to the sternum or collarbone, etc., etc. But if you train only locks and holds you'll be a dead man when sh#t gets ugly--as all of our LEO students can attest to. Your response is limited with no place to go. In any event, you have to strike before you can lock, unless the attacker is slow, stupid, small, weak or drunk...or you're fighting in a sportive competition with rules.
