The 2021 edition of the Guide to Evagrius Ponticus is now available. Quarterly 2020 editions were not created because major upgrades were being developed for the Guide. Starting with this issue, the Guide moves to an annual publication cycle, with new issues arriving in late December.
Google Analytics has been removed, in part to comply with GDPR, and for other reasons outlined here.
The contact form has been simplified to human-readable email address.
The checklist of writings has been streamlined in appearance, and easier access has been provided for transcriptions and parallel editions. The parallel editions now come in two types, one for enhanced searching and the other for enhanced reading. The search-enhanced editions prioritize word joins to allow for easier browser-based research. The reading-enhanced editions provide more styling of the sources, and when versions in the same group are quite close, they are combined in a synthetic reading that shows precisely where the versions diverge, and statistics behind the immediate difference.
Reading editions have more option controls over visualization. When based on a TAN-A file that includes claims about quotations, the relevant extracts from the quoted texts are also provided. Vocabulary for types of text reuse (quoting, referring, alluding, paraphrasing, etc.) are explained.
Much of the new functionality is based upon tools in the Text Alignment Network, version 2020, development branch.
