In the UK, an estimated 16.1 million people (24% of population) had a disability in 2022/23. There were 66.3 million internet users (97.8% of population) at the beginning of 2024. Exact statistics are hard to come by, but it might not surprise you to find that there’s a large intersection on the Venn diagram between those two groups.

Is accessibility worth it?

If you’re confident all the various worldwide directives and legislation such as the Equality Act 2010 and European accessibility act don’t apply to your chatbot, and you’re happy to exclude a large portion of potential users, there is still reason to make it accessible aside from just being a decent human being; it’ll improve your codebase and user experience.
