"The Local Pathways Fellowship, an initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth (SDSN Youth), equips young urban leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to tackle complex urban challenges. With a focus on Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, LPF provides an immersive training program that transforms ideas into impactful projects, spanning grassroots initiatives, startup ventures, and policy reforms

The Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) seeks to provide young leaders with the tools, a platform and a guiding framework for action, and connect them with leading urban development experts and practitioners.

The Local Pathways Fellowship remains committed to inclusivity and strives to bridge the knowledge gap by empowering young individuals from diverse backgrounds to actively contribute to sustainable urban development.

The core component of the Fellowship is a practically-oriented training program, which is designed to enable young fellows to understand the process of “localizing” SDG 11 in the cities they represent and to guide them through the development of a project.

Eligibility Criteria 

1. Early-career professionals and students:

a) aged between 18 and 30 years old;

b) with at least one year of academic or professional experience in relevant fields such as urban planning, advocacy, or community initiatives;

c) with a well-defined project idea or initiative aligned with the SDG 11;

d) with the ability to commit 6 hours per week from February to November 2025. 

2. Fluent English. 

For 2025, the program will offer an online course, mentorship from global experts, and peer-to-peer collaboration with changemakers worldwide. Fellows will develop and implement localized solutions while being part of a vibrant global community dedicated to sustainable urban transformation. 

Applications for the 2025 Local Pathways Fellowship will be accepted until January 19th, 2025, at 11:59 pm EST (Eastern Standard Time)."
