Accessibility problems are often organisational problems.‌

Dear All,

Many accessibility programmes begin with good intentions.

A new policy gets written. Teams attend training. Audits are commissioned. Backlogs start growing. Fixes start to be made. But after a while, progress slows.

Not because people stop caring - but because the organisation itself isn’t set up to support accessibility consistently.

That’s where ISO 30071-1 can help. Unlike WCAG, which look to fix the accessibility of individual products and services. ISO 30071-1 looks at fixing the organisation so that all products and services are created in an accessible way right from the start. It looks at:

  • Leadership and accountability
  • Governance and planning
  • Skills and capability
  • Procurement and processes
  • Embedding accessibility into delivery

In our upcoming webinar on Thursday 25th June, we’ll show how organisations are using the Standard to diagnose where things are breaking down and create a clearer path forward.

We’ll also share practical examples of how embedding accessibility properly can:
  • Reduce expensive rework
  • Improve delivery efficiency
  • Create clearer ownership
  • Make accessibility more resilient and valuable over time

Accessibility maturity isn’t just about fixing issues faster. It’s about building an organisation that prevents more issues in the first place.

Best wishes,

Jonathan
