his topic features how to setup a Development Environment for OO Flash
Development.
Unfortunatelly there is no easy way, you have to install and configure
a number of tools and products

Tools | Where to Find Them | Licence
Macromedia Flash | http://www.macromedia.com | Commercial
Eclipse | http://www.eclipse.org/ | Free
FDT | http://fdt.powerflasher.com | Commercial
and Free version for registered in Source Forge
Developers
MTASC | http://www.mtasc.org/ | Free
SOS |http://sos.powerflasher.com/english.html#downloads | Free

Eclipse Installation
· If not already installed, download & install Java first

· Unzip Eclipse download file · Inside zip is one folder called
'eclipse'. Put this wherever you want to install Eclipse (e.g.
c:/eclipse )

· Eclipse installation done, tough huh? smile

You should have a folder structure something like:

c:/eclipse/eclipse.exe

Now launch the eclipse.exe to start Eclipse (you might want to make a
shortcut to it now).

You should get a popup asking you to select a workspace, just click OK
to the default for now.

If you have any problems running it at this point I can't really help
as Eclipse has worked perfectly for me every time. I'm sure there are
good Eclipse support forums out there though...

FDT Installation

* Open Eclipse
* Choose (from the top toolbar) "Help"->"Software Updates"->"Find
and install..."
* Select "Search for new features to install" and choose "Next"
* Choose "New Remote Site"
* Insert as the name: FDT
* Insert as the URL:

http://fdt.powerflasher.com/update

* Confirm with "OK"
* Make sure "FDT" is ticked in the site list and choose "Finish"
* Eclipse will check for the latest version...
* Make sure "FDT" is ticked again in the feature list
* Click "Next"
* Accept the licensing agreement
* Confirm the correct feature "FDT 1.0.2" is to be installed
* Click "Finish"
* Eclipse downloads FDT...
* Confirm you want to install FDT by clicking "Install"
* Click "Yes" to restart the workbench

FDT install done, Eclipse should now restart.

FDT Config
Core Libraries

* Select (from the top toolbar) "Window"-> "Preferences"
* Expand "FDT" in the list on the left then select "Core
Libraries"
* Ensure you have a "Flash Default" entry listed and checked.

IF NOT ...

* Click "Add"
* Name it: Flash Default

* In Location put:

C:\Documents and Settings\***\Local Settings\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash MX 2004\en\Configuration\Classes

* REMEMBER to change the stars in the path above to reflect your
own Windows login name. If you don't know, have a look at what you have
in the "Documents and Settings" folder smile
* Click "OK"
* Make sure your new entry is checked then click "Apply", then
"OK"

Paths

* Select (from the top toolbar) "Window"-> "Preferences"
* Expand "FDT" in the list on the left then select "Paths"
* Check the paths have been auto filled in. If not, enter them
based on your system. On mine, the paths are:

Flash IDE:
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash MX 2004\Flash.exe

Flash Player:
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash MX
2004\Players\Debug\SAFlashPlayer.exe Flash ASO Directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\adam\Local Settings\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash MX 2004\en\Configuration\Classes\aso

· Make sure you click "Apply", then "OK"
