We are conducting a survey of sorts in order to plan a possible combined Tea Party Event with Teller Tea Party. They will be having a steering committee meeting this coming Wednesday, August 18th at which time a decision will be made to co-sponsor the event which at this point is fairly positive. However, with or without their support we will continue with the event.
We have been tentatively planning to have the event corresponding with Constitution Days which are September 16th and September 17th. Our event would be held on Saturday Sept. 17th at approx 1:00 PM at the Bullmoose Restaurant in Guffey. They have an outdoor stage with all full electrical hookup so we can have a speaker or possibly 2. One speaker we were thinking of having is Mike Holler who speaks and teaches on the Constitution Made Easy. Jim and I were fortunate enough to hear him speak and he was Excellent!!! Mike was the featured speaker at the most recent Teller County Tea Party Rally in Woodland Park at the Woodland Park Cultural Center. This would correspond with "Constitution Days". We would have to check with Mike to make sure he would be available. He tours the United States speaking on the Constitution, the Founding Fathers and the history that led to these events. It is truly well worth hearing. Also we may be able to get Doug Lamborn to speak.
This again is a preliminary polling to see what the interest level would be so we can make realistic plans for a meeting prior to the elections in November. We are planning to recruit attendance from Fairplay, Lake George, Florrisant, Guffey, Jefferson, Corrider 285 and Park County in general.
The Teller Tea Party is a local nonpartisan movement of American Patriots who uphold and defend the constitution of the United States of America. They would basically be co-sponsoring the event.
We can elect to have a social hour after the speakers. We can also elect to have a luncheon. I have aleady spoken with the Bullmoose Restaurant and they could provide a luncheon of our choice. Of course they would need to have a basic headcount. Their capacity is 69. If we elected to have it at a restaurant then we would encourage folks to eat there to support small business.
There are other alternative places to have it depending on the numbers attending such as the school, Bill Sioux's Chicken Fly area and possibly the Barn at the old Antique Store (the alternatives are yet to be determined).
I would like to encourage attendance at this event particularly if you have concerns about our country and what direction we are heading in and what our past has been. Are you concerned about taxation? Would you like to see a more representative government? I think many of us no matter what our political party association have some concerns about our nation. Help become part of the solutions. We can make a difference. Plus it is fun and you can meet other interesting people.
Let's help to build a vital Guffey and Park County. I will be following up with those that express an interest in this type of event.
Therefore please let me hear from you if you are interested in this type of event.
Thanks,
Roberta Smith
