Atmos 3 Lite is a Free cinematic ambient piano, with 2 layers of sound with adjustable level, one layer of acoustic piano sound recorded from a Yamaha C3 and another layer of sound pads created from the same original samples, using various digital processing such as Reverbs, Morphing and Structural Effects among others.
Is this the most intricate, immaculate, & comprehensive piano plugin ever? No... however it does have a very pleasant, workable tone, as well as a character aesthetic that does well capturing dreamlike/surreal vibes very decently when either playing alone, or along side pads, arps, & other synth timbres in hybrid electronic, cinematic, & ambient genres... or even resampled into drones, etc. & mixed with strategic DSP FX, (like grain delays such as the excellent & Free "Lagrange" by UrsaDSP) with lovely results that don't sound out of place or forced... and in a standalone plugin made available for Free no less. Atmos v1 was so-so, since it was a little too heavily drowned in reverb to try to make it's vibe... but Atmos v2 feels like a significant step up in quality, versatility, & application.
It's cool the ESL has released some solid free & inexpensive plugins for audio community, seems kind of unfortunate they have so few reviews here on KVR... but as for Atmos 2, I dig it. Definitely worth snatching this one up. Recommended.

I have written about this recording before regarding Atmos and my feelings have not changed. This release features Bob James on piano and Fender Rhodes, Michael Palazzolo on bass and the great Billy Kilson on drums. This recording was made by Evo Sound and the same immersive team as A Shade of Blue. The instruments are positioned the same as A Shade of Blue with keyboards on the left, bass in the middle and drums on the right. This release does not have the reverb that A Shade of Blue has and is drier as it was recorded in a studio vs. a large hall such as the venue for A Shade of Blue. The results are nonetheless stellar, at least to these ears. It is claimed that Bob James is the most sampled musician of all time. The reason why is evident in this release. The immersive mix is available on Immersive Audio Album. For those like me that love 4K video, the recording session was recorded on video and is available on 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray video. The video presentation graded with HDR is every bit as good as the audio.
This is yet another stellar Atmos recording engineered by Morten Lindberg at 2L. The album features some original compositions, traditional Swedish folk songs and the song God Only Knows penned by Brian Wilson. The album was recorded at the Sofienberg Church in Norway. Yes, it is solo piano, beautifully played by Mr. Hoff, but the recording captures the size and sound of a real piano in a real space like no other two channel recording I have ever heard. As of now, as far as I can tell, the Atmos mix is only available from disc from 2L. Native DSD has the Auro3D for sale but not the Atmos mix. Come on NativeDSD! Look for this release, it is well worth the effort.

Crafting this incredible finish for our most popular home theater speaker series requires a painstaking, three-coat paint and polish process. By delicately fabricating each layer, the result is a deep and vivid reflection that only a true piano black finish possesses. The luminous finish wraps around the entirety of the housing to provide an even reflection that gives the speaker an edgeless appearance from every angle.
That said, getting a high-quality piano sound from your laptop for free can sometimes be a tricky proposition. Some digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Ableton Live and Logic Pro X do come pre-loaded with very serviceable piano sounds. These virtual instruments are great for practicing and getting ideas down, but played straight out of the box, they tend to lack the unique character you want to bring to your recordings.
There are two main methods that plugins use to reproduce a piano sound: sampling and modeling. Sample-based piano instruments rely on recordings of a real-life piano, which are then played back using the keys on your MIDI controller. Model-based piano plugins are more akin to digital synthesizers: A sound engine recreates the sounds of a piano, simulating what the keys would sound like when struck in real life.
Spitfire LABS includes multiple different piano instruments for different scenarios. Soft Piano, which features felt-covered piano hammers for a more muted sound, is great for contemplative tracks, while Piano Pads and Modular Piano are perfect for atmospheres and soundtrack work. There are also gorgeous e-piano instruments (Wurli, Electric Piano) up for grabs, too.

Likewise when I switched to Sonos' new Brittany Howard-curated radio station. Charles Mingus' piano on Myself When I Am Real sounded more natural than on any other soundbar that I can recall, let alone one without a subwoofer.
