The Cooperative AI Foundation is pleased to announce the next seminar in our 'Updates in Cooperative AI' series:

Title: Evolving General Cooperation with a Bayesian Theory of Mind

Date: October 23rd at 5pm UK Time / 12pm Eastern Time (1 hour long)

Speaker: Max Kleiman-Weiner (University of Washington)

About: Theory of mind is the ability to understand other people’s behaviour in terms of mental states such as desires and beliefs. Many hypothesise it is key to the distinct scale and sophistication of human cooperation, but how it enhances cooperation remains an open question. In this talk, Max presents findings from building a computational model of theory of mind and using it to develop an agent that conditionally cooperates with agents it infers are like itself.
