El martes 6 de junio de 2017, a las 20 horas, el DISTRITO M 1 PARAGUAY DEL CLUB DE LEONES realizó la Ceremonia de Gala por los 100 años del LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL, oportunidad en la que entregó la máxima distinción, el PREMIO “SERVIDOR DE LA COMUNIDAD” AL DR. DAVID GALEANO OLIVERA, Director General del ATENEO DE LENGUA Y CULTURA GUARANI, en mérito a su total entrega en defensa de la Lengua Guarani. La ceremonia fue presidida por el León, Dr. Carlos Eladio González Casco, Gobernador del Distrito M 1 Paraguay del Lions Clubs International, acompañado por los miembros de su Gabinete. De la ceremonia participaron numerosos socios del Distrito M 1 Paraguay.

La resolución de otorgar esta máxima distinción que tiene carácter nacional al Dr. Galeano Olivera fue tomada en la XX Convención del Distrito M 1 Paraguay y a través de ella el leonismo paraguayo reconoce a Galeano como el más importante defensor, promotor y difusor del idioma Guarani de los últimos 30 años. Galeano además de ser Director General del ATENEO, es Profesor Titular de la Universidad Nacional de Asunción, en varias carreras; lo mismo que escritor de varios libros y publicaciones en internet.
