For the first time in forever, Disneyland hosted a nighttime event that honored some of their most beloved princesses. Princess Nite gave Guests the opportunity to mix and mingle with Disney royalty, with character meet and greets for princesses like Ariel, Mulan, Belle, Merida, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, and more! Throughout the night, attendees could pick their own adventure by choosing which princesses to meet and what experiences to enjoy.
However, character encounter wait times were very long for Princess Nite. As the main draw of this Disney After Dark event, the wait times were surprisingly lengthy! And in my experience, the rarer the character, the longer the line will be to meet them. The most popular lines at Princess Nite when I went were Leia, Kida, Tiana, Minnie, and Daisy.
Make sure to arrive early and plan out what princesses you would like to see. Some Guests started to wait for characters like Princess Leia as early as 3:30 PM. Long wait times can take a large chunk out of your time and keep you from enjoying the rest of the event. So, use the mix-in time to your advantage and get a head start.
I suggest starting at the longest line and the princess you most want to see and work your way up to others as the night goes on. The line wait times will decrease as the night goes on, but the Cast Members will also close lines early, so keep that in mind when planning out your night.
For Princess Nite 2023, there was one convenient addition to the Disneyland After Dark PhotoPass experience: Guests could scan their event wristbands into the Disneyland App and link it to your PhotoPass Photographer after each photo. It was very easy to use, and the photos were uploaded to your account quickly.
Costumes are definitely encouraged at Disneyland After Dark events! As an adult, there are really no opportunities to dress up and feel like a princess, so this was a fun experience to share with my friends. Disneyland has rules and guidelines to help you plan for your occasion, so be sure to check out the Disneyland website for more details on what, exactly, is allowed for adult costumes.
Depending on who you ask, Princess Nite was a hit or miss. Between extremely long wait times for princess meet and greets and a somewhat limited selection of exciting merchandise and specialty food and drink items, there were definitely areas in which this Disneyland After Dark event could improve. However, there was also plenty to like, from short ride times to unique park experiences (like special decor and rare character sightings!).
My hope for a future Princess Nite is that the event will be longer with more roaming characters and sightings like Giselle. Disneyland After Dark events offer guests a lot of opportunities to explore the park and make unforgettable memories. I am a fan of these events overall, and I will definitely go back despite the long wait times. The key is to have a plan and make the most of your magical experience.
Well, DD20 and I went to the Princess Nite after hours event at Disneyland on Thursday. It was a bit disappointing. The lines for princesses were so long. We ended up only meeting four - Moana, Tiana, Merida, and Princess Atta.
The biggest M&G line was for Princess Leia in TL. We headed over right after the projection show for Wondrous Journeys at 8:00. The line was already predicted to be at 2-1/2 to 3 hours. It was a hard decision but we gave up on Leia and R2.
We then headed to Main Street. We saw Princess Minnie and Princess Daisy but their line was huge. They looked so cute though. We should have taken a picture but thought we would make it back. Oh well.
As we left Merida we walked by Mulan. She was in her Ping warrior outfit for the evening! She finished up the last two folks in her line and then did some vaguely king fu moves with the crowd. So at least we got to see her!

While I was making my wish come true on the Disney Wish cruise ship, I missed about a week of blog posts. Most weeks, I don't have a lot to write about besides my weekly book review, but last week happened to be a pretty big one for princess fans. Not only did Disneyland After Dark debut a new hard ticket event called Princess Nite, but the long-awaited full-length trailer was finally released for the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid as well. Between those two massive announcements, it looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. Let's get started.
The park is hosting Ice Princess Night on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 5-7 p.m. This event is free to attend and will feature live ice carvings, games, bubbles, sing-alongs, mini gold, street curling and more.
Beloved princesses will also be making an appearance to celebrate the winter season. Meet Elsa and Anna, from Disney's "Frozen", as well as Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog" and Ariel from the new live-action "The Little Mermaid."
Also during the event, every 30 minutes you can watch the Electrical Spectacle presented by PECO, a free holiday light show with hundreds of thousands of lights choreographed to "Winter Wonderland" by Johnny Mathis.
Calling all little princesses! What a better way to be a princess than to be surrounded by princess dresses. Princess Night is open from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and is a come-and-go event. Tickets include admission to the wedding dress exhibit, photos with princesses, princess crafts & snacks. My family loves Chick-fil-A. We probably grab food there more than any other place when we're in a rush or Cooper needs to get rid of some energy. Not that I didn't love them before having kids, but now I consider their restaurants an oasis - a place where my children will actually eat their entire meal and run out all of their energy on the playground while I get pampered with refills and super kind employees. As Treasure Valley residents, we also get spoiled because our Chick-fil-A restaurants host fun events all the time - like their Santa breakfasts, superhero dinners, and pj nights. Recently the Meridian Chick-fil-A announced another event and its so magical that you'll definitely want to mark your calendars!
On Thursday, February 22, join Chick-fil-A at 2012 North Eagle Road in Meridian for a fairytale evening. Dress your child up as a prince or princess and let them dine with the cow, play on the playground, and enjoy some delicious food. The night is also winter themed so I foresee a lot of Elsas and Annas eating chicken nuggets!
