Hello All!
A couple of mid-week reminders from your friendly Georgetown STAND chapter:
Princess Buttercup and John Prendergast on Conflict Minerals in the DRC
Wednesday, September 14, 7 - 8:30 pm; ICC 7th Floor, Executive Conference Room
The Enough Project, Raise Hope for Congo, and Georgetown STAND present the Conflict-Free Campus Initiative, featuring actress and activist Robin Wright, Goma-based field researcher Fidel Bafilemba, and Enough Project co-founder John Prendergast.
Robin Wright just returned from a trip to eastern Congo with the Raise Hope for Congo campaign, and will present her reflections. Goma-based researcher Fidel Bafilemba will provide an overview of the situation on the ground, including the recent developments around the illicit trade in conflict minerals, and John Prendergast will explain our connection to the conflict and what students can do to be leaders in the conflict-free movement for peace in Congo. You can read about Georgetown STAND's work on mineral extraction and violence

U.S. Holocaust Museum Visit
Saturday, September 10, 11 am - 3 pm; Campus Front Gates/U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum
Georgetown STAND is planning our annual beginning-of-the-year visit to the Holocaust Museum on the National Mall. We'll take a tour of the main exhibition, as well as the Museum's "From Memory to Action" exhibit, about mass public action on genocide prevention. We're meeting at the front gates at 11 am, and should be back on campus before 3. Contact
st...@georgetown.edu for more information!
We hope to see you all at both of these events, and look forward to your involvement in Georgetown STAND over the coming year. Talk to you soon!
All the best,
Georgetown STAND
