Throughout the course of the year, some spectacular events have taken place at Georgetown regarding the tragedy at Ferguson. The conversation among professors, orchestrated by President DeGioia, and followed by the Black Leadership Forum's smaller discussions were great opportunities for Hoyas to engage with one another on a topic that does not receive enough attention. Our goal is simple: to have a broad discussion on inequality specifically with regard to the complexities associated with class and race.

Over the next couple of days, we are hosting the final two events as a part of a larger series: Ignite the Dream:

Last week:

Thursday, April 9th at 7:30pm in the ICC Auditorium: What is Race, What is Class?

This panel will feature Jenée Desmond Harris of Vox and The Root, Julissa Arce of Goldman Sachs, Saba Bireda of the Department of Education, and Georgetown Law student Ryan Wilson. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Marcia Chatelain.

This week:

Monday, April 13th at 7:30pm in the Healey Family Student Center Social Room: Pass the Torch: A Celebration of Student Activism will feature several student activists discussing their role as change makers on campus. All of the student panelists are listed on our website at ignitethedream.org.

Tuesday, April 14th at 8:00pm in the ICC Auditorium: New Slaves--Mass Incarceration in the United States will feature several advocates for prison reform including Glenn Martin of Just Leadership USA, Darakshan Raja from the Washington Peace Center, and several other individuals who will be identified later this week on our website.

We hope to see you at one of our events, and please don’t forget to check out our website and register (for free) at ignitethedream.org and our Facebook page. Thank you!
