OMG! It think you want Vimu to look like Kodi. :-)

Hi Alexander,

I have been testing Vimu Media Player Version 9.30 for a while now on an Nvidia Shield TV Pro running Android 11 and SHIELD Android TV SW Version 9.0.2

I think that Vimu Media Player is a great media player and I would like to help make it be even better.I have come up with a list of what I think would be great improvements.
Basically adding new features to what is currently available.
This way nothing will be removed only extra options and more customization for the users.
One area I believe that could be enhanced is the interface.
I have listed some ways I think this could be done below.

Adding NFO support(You said you are looking to add this in the future which is great)

Adding more choices to the layout choices, currently there is
Grid, List and Double list.
changing it to
Grid Small, Grid Normal, Grid Big, Basic List, Detailed List, Basic Double List
Detailed List.

Basic List and Basic Double List would be how List and Double List are now.
The Detailed versions would use NFO support to replace the filenames with the name for the file contained in the NFO and also list other information such as a description of the episode/movie.

It would also be nice to able to use different layouts for different folders.
For example use the Grid Layout for folders that have subfolders but for folders that do not have any subfolders use Detailed List.

Kodi is a very popular Media Player and it has many users that already have their libraries setup for use with Kodi. To make it easier for people to transition from Kodi to Vimu Media Player I think it would be good to make a few changes to what files Vimu Media Player
looks for, such as Vimu Media Player looks for a file called background.jpg in a folder and if found it will display that image as the background when viewing the contents of that folder.Kodi uses fanart.jpg
I think it would be good to make Vimu Media Player also look for a fanart.jpg or fanart.png image when looking for an image to display as the background of a folder.

When Vimu Media Player uses images in Grid view to display a poster/cover for a file
some improvements could be made to how the images are scaled.
For example I found an image that was 500x750 pixels looked better than an image that was 2000x3000, I realize that 2000x3000 is way higher that what is needed but this is a common resolution for poster/cover artwork images.

I have noticed some playback issues when using the continue feature, some video files will have stuttering but the same file will not have any stuttering when played from start to end.
I also noticed that when using the continue feature a small amount of audio from the start of the video is played before it starts playing from the location in the video it is continuing  from.

To sum up I only wish to help and I hope that I have not offended you or anyone else.
The price you are charging for Vimu Media Player is very fair
and I would like to see Vimu Media Player become more popular and grow.
I look forward to your reply.

Hi everybody,

Personnaly I like that Vimu has little customisation. I hate Kodi with all its options which are not all understandable, even when displayed in my mother tongue.
The only things I miss from Vimu :
- display a summary of the plot by using either an nfo, txt or xml file
- the ability to delete a file or folder from the interface

I like things kept simple. I chose Vimu just because after testing nearly ten apps for video playback, it is the only one that displays my movies based on the folder architecture and names I chose on my NAS, and displays a folder.jpg file to illustrate the contents. Basic. Efficient.

Too bad it cannot run on my android tablet 😛

More customization can only be a good thing surely.

I would really like to Vimu V10 to be better than Kodi in every way!
