Hi Friends

We hope you enjoyed GDG Bangalore's last event i.e DevFest 2012 :).  At the end of the event, as a group we were discussing about taking new initiatives and getting together to know about latest technologies. Many of you have shown an interest to have meetup's around some of the technologies that you are good at or may be currently working. We feel this is the right thing for any group to move forward where everyone from the community contributes.

The reason for writing this mail is to share one such initiative by Sathish V J. Sathish has taken an initiative to conduct a small meetup on Go Language. Details Below -

What is Go?
Go is a very fast, powerful, scalable, Google conceived, open source language which is also fun, easy, and quick to program in. Go combines the development speed of working in a dynamic language like Python with the performance and safety of a compiled language like C or C++. Typical builds feel instantaneous; even large binaries compile in just a few seconds. And the compiled code runs close to the speed of C. Go lets you move fast. The popularity of Go continues to increase among the developer community and businesses.  This free developer workshop will be a great opportunity to get an early understanding and appreciation of the language; you will walk away with the ability to write programs in Go. Brief Intro about Sathish -
Sathish spent the last few years in France where he involved himself in energetic developer communities which were instrumental in his learning and progress. Now back in India, he wants to create and encourage similar communities and make available all the benefits he gained through his interactions with other professionals, enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.
He was fascinated by Go's programmatic wisdom and capability early on and maintains one of the most popular beginner's learning resources for it: http://golangtutorials.blogspot.fr/2011/05/table-of-contents.html

Hello everybody, I'm seeing a good and growing response to the Go Lang workshop.  I shall send out the first list of ten people in a short while for the session this Saturday.

For the next ten, so that we may quickly work with your enthusiasm, I propose that I hold a repeat of the session on Sunday at around the same time and the same venue.  I shall send this list too.

All others, I apologize for not being able to accommodate you right now, but let us get together again soon.

cheers and see you all soon,
Sathish

Wow, Its a great opportunity to attend Go language workshop. You know whenever you read something new on a blog definitely as a developer you want to try that, but the problem is you never find time for that. As time goes you will forget about that topic. Same thing happened to me for Go, I read about this lang on a blog and forgot to try what it is. Thats the main reason I gone for this workshop. Sathish took us through every awesomeness in Go and he skipped all common things like (datatypes, operators, conditional statements) I like it as a developer. Further to the workshop I explained about Go to my colleagues, They are super impressed more than me. Thank you so much Sathish VJ for conducting such a good workshop. Looking forward to have more workshop like this.

Regards,
Sankaran Kaliappan.
