Hi, All.

I just wanted to pass along a status update. Obviously we didn't meet
in December, and haven't met yet in 2012. I had one thing lined up for
Jan/Feb, but it fell through, and I haven't really had time to give
this group the proper attention it deserves and follow up more to get
presentations and meetings together.

At this point I'd like to solicit help. I'm ready to pass the torch on
being the GTUG leader, because I've done it for several years now, and
I don't feel like I have the time to properly make it a bigger/better
more engaging group. If anyone out there is interested in taking over,
please let me know. I can help with the transition and stay involved
for as long as needed to try to make it a smooth process, but in the
long run the group needs some new leadership.

Until such time as someone else is ready to take over I plan to
continue to set things up and hold meetings *when we have presenters
and content*. I'm working on a few leads now for March, and I expect
to have a meeting at the end of this month (last Tuesday is the plan,
but as always it depends somewhat on speaker schedules). I'll follow
up here with more details about March.

Thanks, and as always please let me know if you would like to present,
or have ideas/leads for presenters, or would like to help in any other
way -- the suggestion box is always open.

Charlie,

Thanks for all you've done to build this group. I've learned something from all the presentations I've attended and have enjoyed meeting lots of folks using Google platforms. The Google Midtown office remains available for meetings and I look forward to working with a new leader from the community to coordinate that.

Charlie,

I really enjoyed the past presentations tremendously and what to thank you for organizing.

Perhaps whenever something does come together next time, we can discuss passing-on the leadership torch in person, by dedicating last 15 minutes of time to it. If you'd cover briefly what is involved in this, perhaps others in the group will step up, or maybe few of us can band together for "leadership by committee" type of deal :)

There are many additional exciting technologies at Google that are going open source or already are. For example Google+ was written using Closure for JavaScript: https://developers.google.com/closure/templates/

I was surprised it wasn't GWT and would be interested to learn more about this open-source technology, as probably would few others.

Thanks again!

Charlie,
Thank you for all the time and effort you've spent on GTUG. I've learned a lot and enjoyed the meeting and the people I've met there. I hope you'll continue to attend even after you're no longer responsible - you deserve a chance to just enjoy the show for a while.

Looking forward to seeing you again soon,
Burk
