Greets,

First thing's first, my name is George Tang.  I was a regular attendee of GTUG Atlanta.  For the past few months, I have been working with Charlie to assume the organizer role for Google Developer Group Atlanta (was GTUG Atlanta).

The G+ page for GDG Atlanta is here.

GDG Atlanta continues in the spirit of the wonderful monthly GTUG meetings.  We will continue hosting speakers, organizing special events, spreading the word about other like-minded events in town, and in general provide a great place for developers excited about working with Google technology to get-together and network in the Atlanta area.

It's my pleasure to announce the first GTUG -> GDG Atlanta Meeting on Tue, June 18, at the Atlanta Tech Village (ATV) from 7:30pm - 9pm, in the 5th Floor meeting space.

Meeting Location

We've decided to change the meeting location.  We loved the Google Atlanta Office meeting space, but I believe a change of location and perspective is good :)

Parking in the ATV deck is free.  Enter the 1st floor, and take elevator to the 5th floor.  The big meeting space is where we'll meet.

Since it has been a while since we hosted one of these, the agenda for this meeting is to sync up on what members would like GDG Atlanta to be moving forward.

As always, pizza and drinks will be available, and we'll appreciate any donations to help off-set the chow cost.

This gathering is co-sponsored by BetterCloud (grubs) and Atlanta Tech Village (space).

Cooper and I would like GDG Atlanta meetings going forward to be about:

* Teaching me **cool stuff** I don't know
* Provide a network for me to meet really smart people that I can help find a job so I can get that handsome employee referral fee -- but can never feel like the AJUG headhunter full court press
* Free stuff

Am I missing anything?

Regards,
  Hardwick

p.s. - Charlie, you need to do a talk on the Geo spatial stuff you are working on these days ;-)

Everyone

I wanted to know if there could be a session where members of the group who are developing apps (both mobile and web) can stand in front of the group and give a 10 min presentation on what they are building using Google Technology, what road blocks they are experiencing and any ideas the group may have. Let me know your thoughts on this idea.

Harold

Hi Harold,

You only sent that email to me, can you send it to the gdg group email distribution?  It is a good request that I think everyone should see.

I would be glad to do that as we are building on App Engine, using GWT, Guava, Google Pipeline Library, 12 different Google APIs, etc.  I'm the CTO, so I'll start talking and then the architects, tech leads, and developers on the team will chime in when I'm saying it wrong and then eventually they'll get so frustrated with all that I'm saying wrong that they'll just take over the entire presentation ;-)
