Hey Yonas, I installed this nice app and wanted to share my opinion.
Could you please consider adding these two features on the upcoming versions?
1) On the functionality "Hisab Lemastelalef," I don't want to type in the receiver telephone number, as I may make a mistake and send it to wrong number. I usually like to select from my contacts. The same thing for "Melsew Yidewululigne.
2) As there is enough space on "Wana Wana Ageliglotoch" why not you make the four buttons a little bigger. The buttons on the Main page are fairly big, you may follow a similar design. On small screens, this gives user a little freedom.
I will add if I find another idea ;)

Awesome start.
Not sure if the green is working out with the blue. And maybe add some OCR library to read the cards - there are already few open source ones out there (Tesseract Tools, tess-two..)

best

Hi Yonas,

Quick comment:I think it would be a good idea to have the option of widgets to put on home screens for checking your balance, recharging your account and other relevant services .

Hi Mekete,

thanks for your comments. my answers are as below.

1. the functionality is already in place. I just made a design change. as some people also need to type numbers instead of going to the contacts (in case the phone number is not saved). how it works is as below
    a. select the edittext to write the phone number (this will open up the number pad to write the phone number)
    b. click or tap the edittext once you selected it (this will take you to your contact addresses so that you can select the phone number you want)

2. for this comment there will be an overall layout design in the coming releases ( I am just gathering more content and functionality at the mean time) I hope it will be great in the coming releases.

Let me know if it is working as I stated above regarding reading from contact address.

thanks and regards,

Thanks Abinet,

Infact I was expecting to add that functionality but I had to make the app size as small as possible for now so that most people can download it easily. I also reduced some other functionality as a threadoff app size. I think it is good idea to keep the app as small as possible for now and for sure I will add OCR in the future.

thanks!

proguard is your friend, if done well, looking at the set of libraries used it should be small enough. Assuming your images are optimized. What is a small size for you?

Progurd is already used. I tried to keep the pics as small as possible in number and at the same time optimized to reduce the size. when I say small it means as small as possible with out removing the must have functionalist. The smaller the size the better for now so as to let people download the app with out difficulty.

thanks for the inputs!

Hi Yonas,
Thanks for the reply, I was not aware at all.
There is still a room for improvement, I think. You can use your own List of Contacts  using AutoCompleteTextView than using intent to choose from contact ( it will decrease user action by one step.)
On another note, the idea Abnet mentioned should be pondered. A single time download size should not outweigh friendliness of the app.

I see that this is a nice place to get criticisms and comments for local apps. After finishing my small local app, I will post it here.

Would be nice to see some of these updated for v2 as well
  • drop the dashboard layout, use drawer  (navigation rethink?)
  • use standard action bar
  • and maybe remove unimplemented menu items(surprise us when they come out)
best

Thanks Mekete,

I do agree there is a lot of room for improvment and will definitly consider lots of comments for the next release.

Hi Abnet,

I agree with all your points. there will be an overall layout change in the coming major upgrade and two of the main things to be considered are changing the dashboard as well as using a standard actionbar.

for the third point I understand what you meant and that was supposed to be done that way. Ethio Telecom is not fast enough to make the service they promised live. in their website they said they will make the GPRS package live soon, some 6 months a go. no idea what "soon" means in Ethio telecom context. may be they assumed nobody will read their website for an info. I was assuming it will be live by the time i released the app but still it didn't, that is why i disabled it after i got lots of complain from users that they are not able to use the service. any ways, good point and I will remove it completelt till it is officially live.

I honestly appreciate for the comments btw!

thanks and regards,

intrepid

I though you all might find this useful

These are github projects you can integrate into you app.

this is an app you can use to see a demo of them.

and a categorized directory of libraries and tools for Android is found here
