It seems like the default build type is "Release" rather than "Debug" as described in the INSTALL file. 

To reproduce this issue, clone the repo (develop branch), create a build folder, and then type "cmake ..", the options will say the Build type is "Release".

It's not a big issue, but probably better to update the "INSTALL.md" file?
