I posted on the Twitters, but thought I'd share it here as well for those who don't tweet. This is my Berliner Weisse I brewed on the 10th of May this year. It is approximately 3 months later, here is what it looks like. Gnarly isn't it?

Who would do that to beer on purpose?!

Just kidding, it does look gnarly.

How long until this beer is ready? More months? Year? I have never tried such a beer.

Do Berliners pair well with Frankfurters? Just wondering ;)

I'm not sure if or when Berliner will be ready. I guess I should pull a sample but I hate to disturb the lovely moon surface. Maybe we'll sample it sept 13 at the brew day/Oktoberfest party.

Very cool! What recipe did you follow? Decoction/turbid mash? No boil? Sour mash or added lacto? Ed and I have been following this approach for mashing sour beers:

http://www.themadfermentationist.com/2009/08/lambic-3-turbid-mash.html

The best yeast I have found for lambics is ECY bugfarm:

http://www.love2brew.com/ECY-BugFarm-ECY01-p/lyec01.htm

It sours fast and gets complex over time. I would feel comfortable using it for any sour including Berliners. Ed and I had some luck with no boil approaches. Makes for a quick brew day

Brewing Classic Styles Berliner mash bill.

ECY20 - Bug County. I had a vial of it. I say screw it, it might be overkill and be stupid funky and sour.

I need to pull a sample and try it out. I can't wait. It looks glorious.
