Google Api Directions Transit mode with gtfs realtime

Hello everyone!

I am developing an android app that consumes google directions api for search routes in transit mode. I call to an url like this:

https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/directions/json?origin=42.8576578,-2.6693579&destination=42.848304,-2.6803257&mode=transit

But it not return bus stops real arrival time. Google maps returns times with delays marks in red but this api doesn't or I don't know how.

I have the same problem.

I work on a project that has a 'Trip Planner' feature uses Google Maps API Directions Service to display Direction Routes.  The website is https://www.cttransit.com.

We are also interested in having the GTFS-realtime data available in the output of Direction Steps, as we see when getting directions via transit.google.com.

We are using the Maps JavaScript API.  We are going to pursue support through options listed in https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/support.

Once we have new information, I will post it to this thread.

I think this problem is related to generic Google approach

As we see, open APIs are bit delayed from official google public products

For example, Google Maps are vector now but Maps API use only raster maps

I too am afraid it is true that Google has simply not updated the Directions Service API to include features present in https://maps.google.com/landing/transit/index.html.

It would be nice to hear this directly from Google, of course.

Note that OpenTripPlanner does support consuming a GTFS-realtime feed for including real-time predictions in trip plans:

We recently rolled this out as part of the trip planning feature in OneBusAway Android, for the Tampa Bay, FL region:

Hi Sean,

Thanks for sharing your experience. OTP looks very interesting and we certainly will take a close look at this. Needless to say, much effort has gone into our integration of the Google Direction Service. Hopefully, we'll hear more from Google regarding their plans for an API update, or the ability to integrate GTFS-realtime by some other means.
