I am currently working on my Master's thesis in geomatics at the University of Avignon. My research focuses on analyzing public transport routes based on different periods and times of the day.

I am looking for an efficient method to extract this information and ensure the existence of certain routes at specific times. Would it be better to work with QGIS or OpenTripPlanner for this analysis? In each case, could you explain how to proceed?

Thank you in advance for your feedback, and I look forward to discussing this with you!

You are doing a master of science thesis. What prior research have you
done other than identifying two software packages?

At the beginning of my  work, I conducted a study to identify areas served and not served by public transportation by using a 1,000-meter walking isochrone around the bus stops in my study area. This initial analysis allowed me to distinguish between tourist accommodations that benefit from adequate transport services and those that do not. Now, I aim to enhance my analysis by incorporating a temporal dimension using GTFS data. My goal is to examine, according to the different transport networks, the number of buses making round trips during a day and to identify the service periods (winter, holidays, weekends, etc.). For this purpose, I need to analyze the GTFS data from my study area. I have already downloaded QGIS plugins such as GTFS Go, but I have not yet managed to achieve the desired outcome.
