I'd like to introduce a new project I've been working on: GTFS-
realtime, which will keep an SQL database up-to-date with the latest
GTFS-realtime data, allowing developers to access realtime data with
SQL, rather than figure out how to plumb the feeds into their app and
merge them with GTFS data.

It's designed to work with GTFSdb, so that static and realtime data
can be kept in the same database. It's written in Python and uses
SQLAlchemy, so it should work with most relational databases.

It can also be used to archive GTFS-realtime data for statistical
analysis; to do that, omit the -o option. In other cases, be sure to
specify -o to avoid filling your database with out of date
information!

More information is available on the announcement on my blog:
http://indicatrix.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/gtfsrdb-plumbing-for-gtfs-realtime/
and the project GitHub page:
https://github.com/mattwigway/gtfsrdb

Let me know if you find it useful or have questions!

Hey Matt

Seems like a very cool project. I look forward to taking a look at it.

Cheers

This looks like a very cool project and I look forward to using this as a base to any GTFS-realtime projects that I want to work on.

Any licensing info?

-Jeff

It's under the Apache 2 license (the disclaimer is on the source, but I should probably be more upfront about it; I'm just switching to GitHub from Google Code, which requires license selection as a precursor to getting a source code repository). If there's an application you have in mind that's prohibited by that license (I can't imagine there would be), let me know and we can discuss it.
