I'd like to start the clock on the following proposal to introduce an initial GTFS style guide (discussed previously).  The specific proposal is for a section on Route Organization in routes.txt, with the proposed text available here:

There has been some discussions and revisions to the proposal but I think there has been enough feedback to start the clock on officially adding this to the GTFS spec page.  If there are no major points of discussion or concern for the proposed text in the next week, I'd like to add the text to the spec page.  Deadline is April 3rd, so speak now if you have feedback.

Thanks,
Brian

Duly noted.  I've opened it up to editing for anyone with the link.

In Google Docs, under the "File" menu item, you should see a "See Revision History" menu item that should do the trick.

The "See Revision History" option is grayed out for me.  I assume this is true for everyone with comment-only privileges.

This seems a senisble plan, provided it is clearly be marked as advisory/informative in the spec.

Since there were no major objections, I pushed the initial GTFS Style
Guide entry for routes.txt organization. You can check it out at:

https://developers.google.com/transit/gtfs/style-guide

I look forward to more spirited debate as we attempt to define
additional best-practices around GTFS ; ) It sounds like route naming
conventions is the next topic up for discussion, so get ready for some
deep questions like "When is a route short name no longer short?"
