I use the is app once or twice a week and don't use the autosync
feature, is there a reason that this app runs at every startup and is
always in the background? Is there an option to not run it at
startup?

I think it is normal behavior for Android. This doesn't mean that, gTask takes memory resources or drains battery.

Well, if the autosync is disabled there's really no reason to leave
the startup process enabled.
That's really useless.
It does't mean that it necessary drains battery, but we have no
infornation about this.

Dear all,

as mentioned, battery is not drained - it's only notified of the device startup, checks if sync should be scheduled and ends.
I'm not aware how to make the registration for startup notification dynamic.
Anyway, the actual added value would be next to zero

Anyway the startup slows down a bit, since it needs to execute the
gtasks process

Well, after the startup, if I execute a task manager I still see the
running gtasks process.

That's the point, maybe it's not possible with the current android OS :(
