Dear all,

well... as you expected us to do, we have started to port to Leopard.
As you have noticed there are issues preventing anyone to use gSync on
Mac OS X 10.5. The main reason for this is that Apple has changed sync
API (not the definition but how it behaves) and this broke how iCal
calendars are assigned to gCal instances. Not blaming Apple - they did
it in a way compatible with their previous definitions.

Good news is that the fix for these issues looks to be not too
complicated and I hope we can do it in a couple of days.

We will merge these changes with what we have now - as the result the
next version should (hopefully) reduce number of occurrences of
duplicated events and a couple of more minor bugs.

---------------------------------
Until we finish porting to Leopard, please do not use gSync on Mac OS
X 10.5 - gSync would erase data from your Google calendars - though
local (iCal) data should remain intact.
---------------------------------

We apologize for any possible inconvenience you may be experiencing
due to this. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned!

Ah cool was wondering why the information set up would be erased each
time I opened up gSync.
Looking forward to test your last release for 10.5

Keep up the good work

Thank you. On the other hand, you shoud put this notice about Leopard
in the main page of gsync, because if gsync erases date from Google
calendars, it can be very inconvenient... By experience.
Thanks
Oscar.

I agree with Oscar. Please post this incompatibility on the
macness.com webpage. I just tried syncing a couple of days ago and I
lost all my Google Cal. items. Let us know when the new Leopard
compatible gsyn comes out. Thanks a bunch! By the way, thanks for
putting together such a useful piece of software!

Any update on the Leopard compatibility. You said it would be "a
couple of days" on the third, and it is now the eighth.

I bought this product right after upgrading to Leopard because I saw
no warning on the web site that it wasn't compatible. So I also lost
all of my Google Calendar data. It's really crappy that you *still*
haven't posted a warning on the home page :(

I agree as well, post something on the main page that this DOES NOT
work with Leopard.

I didn't loose my data but finally paid the $20 on the same day I
upgraded to Leopard and now can't use it. :)

Does the purchase of the Leopard incompatible version include a
license of the future working version?

hehe, I wouldn't say 'Leopard incompatible version' ... I would call
it Tiger compatible ;)

and yes a current license gets you the upgrade for free.

However, that being said we have found serious issues with uptodate
version of Apple Sync Services in Leopard.... this has delayed us
releasing our version for now. We may opt to wait until 10.5.1 comes
out which Apple promises fixes these issues, though we are pessimistic
by nature and would want to test things first before risking your
data.

Hello,

I think we are pretty clear on what version we support e.g. Tiger....
we clearly do not support Leopard at this time. Though I will make a
note on the home page for those few people who do make the mistake.

As for Leopard support we have written the software .... but .....

Unfortunately, we have found a serious set of issues in the latest
version of Apple Sync services in Leopard .... something we caught
during testing. If we release our Leopard support it could definately
result in data loss .... we are investigating work arounds but we may
have to wait to release gSync with Leopard support once Apple has
fixed things ... which is purported to happen in 10.5.1 update.

Will keep everyone updated.

cheers, Jim Fuller

Are you intending to make a release to fix some of the duplicate and
other issues, aside from Leopard compatibility?

I've got a repeatable (Tiger) problem that stops me syncing one of my
calendars. What's the best way to report crashes to you? Is there a
log that we can send you?

Cheers,
Steve

I would also be very keen to see this (non-Leopard) update.

unfortunately our dupe fix is built into the new leopard version so we
are disentangling features now.

I will check with Pavel now with exact timings.

thx for being patient, Jim
