Hey Cristina,
I wanted to put this on your radar if you or any of your fellow grad students are intersted.
As someone who believes that intellectuals have an obligation to take their expertise and specialized knowledge and engage everyday citizens I am looking for people who want to write short articles, opinion pieces, and reviews to go into a small run newsletter and as blog posts. Anything from 200-1000 words--pay is on a sliding scale.
If you know anyone that wants to work on their writing skills, build their profile as a public intellectual, or make a small amount of filthy lucre please pass on my contact Jim.N...@gmail.com.
Anything used is required to be under be held under creative commons. If desired they may use a pseudonym, as public discourse/spotlight understandably doesn't appeal to everyone.
Possible topics:
commentary on current events
music/movie/book reviews (academic or nonacademic)
reviews of academic journal articles
popularization of complex ideas/thinkers/theory
fiction, poetry, and creative non fiction
