a publishing house from Germany

Hi, Guys,

 

I just received a letter from a publishing house from Germany that contact me for my dissertation publishing. I deleted that email and cannot recall the name of it.

 

It's said that this publishing house is a newly established but they are going to publish fresh PhDs' thesis or dissertation at no cost to authors.

 

I'm wondering if you may trust them.

I got the same email. The name of the company is VDM Publishing House Ltd. I briefly looked into them and from what i saw the email isnt a scam. They are a German publishing company that aggresively pursues phd students to publish with them. Apparantly they are not very well known even in Germany though and i doubt its very worthwhile.

As Michael says it's a German Publishing company called VDM Verlag publishing.

It's my understanding that this is not a scam and they actually
publish your dissertation in a form of a book. I know one person from
our program that published a dissertation (i.e. the book is on
amazon).

Nevertheless, I can not assure how well known they are in Germany or
somewhere else (it seems that Michael is better informed in that
sense) but I dont see this as a bad option if you want to put your
dissertion in a book.

yeah, exactly, but on amazon.com there are some books published by them.
