Dear Math enthusiast,

The fifth lecture on Algebraic K-theory is scheduled for 4th March. This marks the start of the second section of the first part of the K-theory series - Higher K Theory of Rings. Visit here for more information.

It is a lecture on Quillen’s Plus construction and the Higher K-groups of ringswhere we will give a definition of the higher K-theory of rings via Quillen’s Plus construction
and establish essential properties of higher algebraic K-theory in this setting.

This section on the Higher K-theory of Rings is independent of the first section. People who were NOT following the first section are encouraged to participate in this one.

This is an online-only event; please use the following details to join.

Series: K-Theory In Totality
Part 1 - Algebraic K-Theory
Section 2: Higher K-theory of Rings
Title: Quillen’s Plus construction and the Higher K-groups of rings

There is an error in the invitation. The talk is scheduled for April 1st, not March 4th.

Apologies

A gentle reminder for today's lecture on the Quillen Plus construction at 3 PM IST.

Apart from its usefulness in K-theory (producing the K-theory spectra), the Plus construction serves as a noteworthy tool in the following:
1. Algebraic Topology ( to compute the total space of a fibration)
2. Stable homotopy theory (to construct the stable homotopy category)
3. Spectra (producing the Thom and Suspension spectras)
4. Abstract homotopy theory ( producing new model structures starting from an old one; for example in the category of bisimplicial sets from the standard model structure in simplicial sets)
And many more...

So don't miss the lecture, even if you are not interested in the KIT series.
