Hi,
as I'm trying to use gst123 on an embedded device (with a hardware audio and video decoder which has its own sink), I needed to build without X and without GTK.
It turns out, it was not too hacky after all (better than I had expected), so I'm attaching the patch for inclusion.
You can also simply pull the change from git://gitorious.org/seife/gst123.git master
