Dear Mr. Mlingi,
The Rotary Club in Livermore, California suggested I contact you. They are considering a grant to Powering Potential which operates in the Arusha Region of Tanzania. I started Powering Potential after visiting a secondary school while on safari in Tanzania in 2006. Our goal is to provide electricity and computers to rural secondary schools so that they can offer the national curriculum of Information and Computers Studies. We also provide digital educational content and technology training. Here is a concise one page description of our program, The Technology Tent. I have also attached that document to this email, for your convenience.
The Livermore Rotary Club has advised me that the first step in the funding process is to find a Rotary Club in Arusha which would oversee the project. Might your club be interested? Powering Potential works closely with the Ministry of Education and also with Mr. Mbwambo, the District Education Officer. I have also briefed President Kikwete on our work and we have received a letter of support from Ambassador Maajar.
Powering Potential's Country Director, Albin Mathias, is currently in the Arusha Region and will be there until May 10. He could meet with you and explain more about our project. Are you open to receiving a phone call from Albin to learn more about our work?
Kind regards,
Janice
