Hey folks,

Glad to see that some of you are ready to get back into the swing of things soon -- looking forward to seeing Ivan posting again tonight. :)

Anyway, the Warriors have off-days on Weds & Thurs this week and I'd love to have content to post on those days.

As an inducement, an announcement: SB Nation is making Synergy available to its writers. The process is described in detail below, and I have one additional request: when you check out an account from Seth, please cc me so that I know how many GSoM writers are in the queue. That way we can sort out among us whose article should get priority, what to post when, and whether there's a better time to get it done so that we make most efficient use of this.

But please don't hesitate to use it, as described, SBN is doing a two month trial which means they both need people to use it AND post articles that make use of it or it will be taken away. I've already talked to Apricot about using it and I'm sure some of you could make good use of it.

OK, guys. We are ready to go. Here's how this will work...

We have a limited number of accounts that we are also sharing with the college bloggers. Each account will be "checked out" like a library book to one person at a time. Checkout periods will be for 24 hours with an extension to 48 hours if requested. I am the librarian. 

It is very important that we don't abuse this process. 

As for screen grabs, our agreement with them is that we won't use their video in our stories. However, we can use video and screen grabs from other sources within the established bounds of Fair Use. The video (and hence screen grabs) on Synergy are not watermarked or otherwise identifiable.

But here's the catch: SB Nation is paying for a two-month trial and will assess how it's used and what kind of results we get. This thing isn't cheap. Here's the details:

-- EVERY post published using Synergy data MUST have "synergy-sports" in the permalink somewhere so we can track it.

-- We will have a floating account(s) that will be "checked out" and "turn in". You will have to contact me to request one of our accounts. I may come up with an online form or something for this. We'll see how it goes.

-- You can't use video or screen grabs from Synergy's video. You can use the data in your stories and screen grabs of the data or Synergy charts (proper citation of course). You can also use YouTubes or Vines in combination with Synergy data to make your point.

-- You are welcome to use either NBA or NCAAB data.

-- We have been offered a webinar training session. I've used this system before and it can be a bit complex if you are someone who struggles figuring things out on your own.
