Hello all!

Let me start the ball rolling by be the first person to post here. Currently I am a undergrad from National University of Singapore and major in Computer Science. This will be my second time joining GSoC, last year I was helping a platform call popHealth to design a plugin to allow users to import data into JSON format. Currently, I am new to Twitter4J and I am still exploring around. :)

Hi all,

Thanks for your interests.
My name is Yusuke and I'm the lead of the Twitter4J project.
As you may already know, Twitter4J is a pure Java and type-safe wrapper for the Twitter API.
It's a de-facto Java library for the Twitter API and used by many mobile / web / enterprise / desktop apps.

It's quite impressive that this project get such an attention in this short period!

This is the first time for me to be a mentor of GSoC and I hope I can work with you guys :)

Best,

Hello everyone.

I am studying Computer Science in Germany and work half-time at a
company that mostly produces Java web applications (leaving by the end
of April). It would be my first Summer of Code, and also my last, since
I will graduate soon. On the side, I sometimes work on a game called
Gang Garrison 2.

Hi all,

My name is Akshay and I am an undergraduate from University of Pune,
India.
I am working on the android platform for my final year project. This
is my first time
for GSoC and I am very excited about it. I am familiar with Java and
OOP Concepts.
Also I like to use/work on open source software and GIT frequently. I
like to learn new
things and I learn it with dedication.

I've not familiar with Twitter4J but I did a little research and liked
this project a lot and I'm sure
I'll be able to find my way around working with Twitter4J.

Looking forward to this.

Thanks.

Hi all,

Let's break the nice flow... I am *not* studying computer science! I
am
studying mathematics - I am doing a PhD in London. I have been
studying
Java first during my MSc year, then in a mentoring program organized
by
Google. I was looking for a project for the summer, I hope I will be
of some
help for the Twitter4J project.

Hello everyone,

my name is Konrad Reiche and I am from Germany, Berlin where I study computer science
at the Freie Universität of Berlin in the master program in order to obtain a master degree.

This is the first time I am trying to get into the Google Summer of Code program. I was really
excited when I saw that the Twitter Open Source projects participate in the program this year.

Last year I have written my bachelor thesis: profiling concurrency. I developed a profiler which
captures information of Java programs with emphasis on concurrency. Hence, I am looking
forward to apply the knowledge I have gained.

hi guys,
my name is Sriganesh. i'm a final year undergraduate from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.
This is my first time in GSOC. I got influenced by GSOC so much Last year, that i want to try it out and make a real good difference.
I have a good knowledge on JAVA, JUNIT and Maven, i have done all my undergraduate projects in java and i used maven as the build tool for everyone.
I came across Twitter4j and it interested me a lot, as the requirements were similar to my interest, and i would be really happy to contribute to it.
I'm exploring the project and still in the start of the learning curve, and i would like to get acquainted with you guys to contribute :)

Hi all,
my name is Alessandro. I'm a student in Computer Engineering at the
University of Padua (Italy), department of Information Engineer.
This is my first time in GSoC.

The programming language that I know better is Java, although I also
know C/C++ and I have experiences using Qt libraries. Moreover, I have
worked on some projects, written in Java, C++ and Qt:

An OpenOffice plugin to manage notarial deeds: the notary writes
the deed in OpenOffice writer, and the plugin does some natural
language processing to extract relevant fields from the text, in order
to automatically fill forms that otherwise will have to be manually
filled.
A web application to manage product catalog and the orders of a
company. This project is written with Java servlets/jsp on the server
side and Javascript on the client side.
A mobile application running on Maemo which reads data from GPS
and processes them plotting it, written in C++ using Qt.

Currently, I am working on an algorithm evaluation project
regarding web algorithms and Link Analysis. More specifically, since
we are in a preliminary step, I am testing a crawler and writing some
extensions to get a web graph.

I am actually new to Twitter4j, but the project interested me a lot,
and i'm looking around.

Hi all,

My name is Kevin Lau and i'm from China Shanghai, I've graduated for several years, now working on Amdocs Shanghai HUB.
Currently my job in the office is creating a social bridge for some SNS (e.g. fb, twitter ...).
It's my first to join the open-source team.
I think I can get some ideas from Twitter4J and i will give my help for the tow projects. :)

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

My name is Luis Alfredo Lizarraga , I'm currently studying CS in the National Autonomus University of Mexico , I'm in my first year, altough I know quite some things of Java, maven just a little, git, Object oriented programming, threads, and i'm currently getting to know about JUnit.
I'm quite enthusiastic about this project , i'm familiarizing with the concepts of the Stream API, the REST API, Search API, and the documentation about Twitter4j, I would be more than happy to contribute to this project, not only because of the learning curve, but for the experience too, professionally and socially. This is the first time I heard about GSoC so I'll be doing my best.
I don't have any projects or experience that i can brag about really, I'm just helping my bro on his project for developing a web page.

hope you're all good.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Okesanjo Omobola. I'm a second year undergraduate
at the University of Toronto and this is the first time I'm
participating in the GSoc. I've worked using Java and as such I'm
familiar with the use of JUnit for unit testing and revision control
systems in creating large programs. The last java program I worked on
with three colleagues was a terminal program for a virtual file
system. It's interesting to see Twitter participate in GSoc this year
and I look forward to exploring J4 and discussing some implementation
ideas for the proposed framework : )

Hi everybody. My name is Alexis Mas, I'm from Uruguay, but I started my Computer Engineering degree in Spain (University of Alcala) and now I'm finishing it on Denmark (Engineering Collegue of Aarhus).

I'm started to work with object oriented programming five years ago. Most of the time with Java, with C# about a year and a half, and the last months with PHP using Symfony2. During my studies I also worked, firs on my University as Mobiel game developer and as Research assistant. After that I move to a company to work with GPS emmbeded devices.

This projects sounds really interesting, so let's see how will evolve.

Hi to everyone!

My name is Santiago and I am a Computer Science student at
Universidade da Coruña (University of A Coruña, Spain).

I have been developing some little applications for four years (mainly
in Java / Java EE). I always use JUnit in order to support my
development process and I have used Maven on my Java EE projects.

By now, I will build another little application with twitter4j
(exploring it a little) and think about my idea. Hope I will get to
something good.

Greetings  and sorry for my English :)

Hello,

Along with playing around with twitter4J , is there anything else we ought to be doing?
Like preparing for the proposal , work on some skills , etc?

I have no experience on Maven. So should I probably start learning it ?

Regards,
Akshay.

You may want to start with a simple Twitter client. It can be a CUI app, a desktop (Swing/JavaFX) app, or an Web app. And the app will use either the user stream or the REST API to get the user's timeline
.
It is preferable the project to be mavenized, open source'd (ASL2.0).

Hi all. I study in an engineering college in Mumbai, India and have always had a keen interest in Java and open source. I will try to get this project running and then try my hand at fixing a few issues. I am currently doing a project for developing a Blackberry mobile application that makes use of location-based services to find out the coolest restaurant deals near the user's current location. I have no idea what maven is though. So, I guess that's where I should start :P
