I wasn't in the loop of what's happening this time in SoC. But in all
previous years, mid term was just a survey from Google that had to be
filled by both the mentor and student. It was mostly targeted at self
assessing the progress of the project against initial milestones and how
well the communication between the mentor and student has been.
But practically, the only question that matters is the one at the end of
mentor's survey asking if the student passed or failed :) So if the
mentor is satisfied of the progress or he/she is aware of any
distractions you have (exams, tours.etc) and can guarantee you will make
out for the time lost, there's nothing to be worried about (Well, at
least I haven't failed any student because truthfully there's nothing an
organization would get from failing one, unless of course the student is
entirely disappeared and can guarantee there won't be any progress with
the project).
So key concept is - keep your mentor in the loop.
Happy coding!
Cheers,
Laknath
