Hi everyone!
My name is Javier Garea and I am an MSc. in Computer Science student at Universidade da Coruña. I focus my effort and interest in those aspects of technology that intersect computer science and software engineering. I discovered Erlang and Elixir in college as languages that allowed us to easily put into practice quite advanced concepts (concurrency and parallelism, tail recursion, property-based-testing, etc). Not so long after my first contact I participated with a colleague at Spawnfest 2018 where we developed our first Elixir project, which was intended to be a proof of concept of distributed compilation.
I am currently really interested in participating in GSoC 2020 contributing to idea #3 of Elixir proposed by the Erlang Ecosystem Foundation. I think it is a great opportunity to contribute to a key project for the development of Elixir based systems, ExDoc, as well as to continue learning and putting into practice the theoretical concepts of computer science, mainly compilers theory. In addition to my experience as a student in Erlang / Elixir and in compilers theory, I have the experience of developing some projects related to both subjects.
Related to this project, I did some little experiments that helped me understand from a high-level perspective how new lexers can be developed.
I would like to contact the mentors of this idea, Tiago Barroso and José Valim, in order to start drafting a project plan and eventually build a proper proposal.
Thank you very much in advance,
Javier Garea
