Dear GSMG Community,

Shambhala Online has announced a program with Pema Chodron and Sakyong Mipham, Rinpoche.  It takes place on July 18 and 19th.  They are requesting that we do it in the context of practice. We still have not set a date for our one day practice retreat.  We could include this in our retreat.  Do these days work for us?  Is there a space available?

Since this is a discussion rather than an announcement, I am just sending it to the GSMG Google Group.

Please respond to the group with general information and to me (cha...@burnellacupuncture.com) with specific information.

The notice is attached below.

Best Wishes,
Charles

Dear centre directors and group coordinators,

As you know, Shambhala Online will broadcast the first two days of this summer's Sangha Retreat with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Gampo Acharya Pema Chodron, live from Shambhala Mountain Centre. We have altered the pay structure based on feedback that we have received from centres (below).

The online portion of the sangha retreat will be offered on Saturday July 18 and Sunday July 19 at 10:30 am Mountain time (9:30 am Pacific, 11:30 am Central, 12:30 pm Eastern, 1:30 pm Atlantic, 6:30 pm Central Europe, 7:30 pm Tel Aviv).

Both the Sakyong and Pema have agreed to take questions from the international audience, which may be typed in during the question and answer periods. No camera or microphone is needed.

Our suggestion is that you create a weekend retreat setting in your centres, offering a strong container in which to receive these teachings.  Please do so based on what you think will work best for your centre or group.

Revised fee structure:
We have received feedback from centres and groups that you are unsure of how many people might participate because of the summer timing of this event.  Therefore, some of you are concerned about committing the full fee, in case there is insufficient participation to cover your costs.  As such, we have revised the payment plan as follows:

Centres: may put down a $125 deposit, and pay more after the event. We suggest a contribution of $20 or more per attendee for the two day program.
Groups: $75 deposit, paying more after the event if you have sufficient attendance, based again on $20 or more per person for the two day program.

No streaming or downloadable recordings will be made available.

Technical information and registration:
If you have never received a Shambhala Online broadcast before, and don't know if this will be technically possible for you, please contact Heather Scott for support.
hea...@shambhalaonline.org

Registration is only open to centres and groups until June 15. From June 16-22, you may still register your centre or group, but individuals will start registering as well. So please register as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

To register, please go to:
http://shambhalaonline.org/register.php?id=23823

We hope that your centre or group will be able to participate-it promises to be an excellent program and a nice way for some members to be introduced to our Sakyong, our Gampo Acharya and Shambhala Mountain Centre-possibly for the first time.

Virtually yours,
The Shambhala Online team

Sounds excellent. I would offer my home but it is small.

Please count me in for attending. While I cannot offer a 'place' to hold this, I can offer a laptop computer to attach to a network connection and a projector to project the screen on to a wall or projector screen if this would be of any use. If the facility doesn't have a network connection, I can bring along an 'aircard' to connect via cell phone for the program but cannot guarantee that I'll be able to handle the bandwidth for a 'smooth' presentation.

Sorry for an additional note here - I can supply the audio equipment as well so we can all hear the presentation - it won't be laptop speakers being used.

Sounds wonderful.  My house is roomy, but I'm flying to Boston on July 19th for a weeklong conference/retreat. :-(  Jan

I would like to thank Charles for opening his home to us for this
online presentation. It is my opinion that Charles provided an
wonderful environment for everyone to listen and learn from two very
respected and revered members of the Shambhala organization. I am new
to Shambhala but must say that I am very pleased with the few
representatives of Shambhala that I have met over the last several
weeks of Tuesday night meditation and this weekend - all of you.
Sincerely, Geoff Warnock
