during the Boston Gnome Summit I demo'ed GSmartMix to some people. All
instantanously liked it :)
I found one bug - the drop down-menu from the applet gets not fitted to the
screen. e.g. if the applet is far right, part of the context menu is beyond
the screen.
Speaking about the applet. I think it would be better to use the
media-play/stop icons to remove-control the playback. These icons are
stock-icons since gnome-2.6.
Remotecontrol works fine for totem, but unfortunately not for rhythmbox.
Marc-Andre it would be good to have one live.gnome.org page that racks the
open bugs in bugzilla. If I recall right you filed patches against
totem/sound-juicer for the volume-notify.
One of the next things would be to figure out, how we can ask about adding
GSmartMix to the gnome-desktop.
For the long term, people would like GSmartMix to cover other ressources as
well. One example are xvports (as used in gstreamers xvimagesink). ATI
cards usually have just one. They can be handled similar than audiosinks,
except that one does not want images to be mixed.
Thats it!

need to talk to them about the mixer applet integration
http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-applets/MAINTAINERS?view=markup
especially Ronald S. Bultje <rbu...@ronald.bitfreak.net
<mailto:rbu...@ronald.bitfreak.net>>
the question is can GSmartMixerApplet detect if GSmartMix is installed
and look like the normal mixer applet if not? Does The Mixer applet need
GSmartMix libraries during build?

Okay. Then we need to have a TODO file in svn with a list of open issues
and push the discussion with the respective developers.

We're now in the beginning of a new gnoem-devel cycle. If we have some
instructions for application developers, at least they might try it out.
E.g. robtaylor of telepathy was interested to try it with a voip client.
They would also do ubunbtu packages of GSMartMix.

Lets clean up the other things for now and only keep the xv part in mind
(keep the codebase generic enough to handle it). For the xv part we
don't need a applet because we don't mix and thus have no separate
mixing levels.
