Dear Sir/ Madam,

With regards to your consultation on the school's catchment area. Please could you consider the following points:

There is a severe shortage of good quality state schools in the NW11 area. Many children are forced to travel outside of the locality to attend a school and endure a long commute, or have to pay incredibly high private school fees. For most the latter is not an option, nor should it be when we pay our taxes for a high quality state school system.

Equally it is detrimental to a child's wellbeing if a child attends HB school but the family lives across London.

The founding principles of HB school  have been eroded by a race conducted by parents across London to have their child attend one of the top schools in the country. However as a consequence there is a lost generation of children growing up in NW11 who do not have access to good quality secondary schooling.

There is an abundance of different faith based schools in the area, however NW11 now caters for people with many diverse backgrounds yet the local secondary schools do not reflect the population of the area.

More needs to be done to allow local children a chance to attend HB school. Ability should continue to play a part in the school application process but not at the detriment of local children.

Yours faithfully

Shaieb Tanweer
