Dear all,
Please find below a message from the PTA regarding Archer Academy. There is a meeting at school tomorrow at 9am to discuss it. Even if you can't attend please click on the link and fill in the consultation! The places for GSJS children at Archer have already gone down from 31 to 15 and the proposed change would have them go down to 12.
It’s Marisa from school. I was hoping you wouldn’t mind sending this email to your class re the Archer Academy meeting tomorrow at nine in the dining hall. We are trying to get as many people there as possible.
Much thanks for your help,
Marisa
Dear everyone,
As some of you might know the Archer Academy has been forced to revise their admissions policy again.
The Archer Academy was originally founded to serve N2, N3 and NW11 but catchment area is shrinking drastically by the year due to oversubscription and each year less children from postcodes NW11 and N3 are getting in.
Last year around this time at Garden Suburb Infant & Junior we did a massive signing action in order to support the Archer Academy which was trying to get approval for a few schools in NW11 and N3 to become feeder schools by granting them a certain number of guaranteed student spaces. As a result Garden Suburb Junior School was given 15 spaces for the Academic yr 2017-18; however, there were objections raised to the adjudicator and therefore Archer has had to review their policy again.
The Archer Academy is urging parents/carers from Garden Suburb School to complete the consultation with their views on the new policy proposal. The proposed new policy will mean:
- a reduction of Garden Suburb feeder places from 15 to 12 (Brooklands will be reduced from 15 to 14 and both Manorside and Tudor places will be increased from 5 to 7)
- and the introduction of random allocation for all the feeder school places
All comments on the survey will be read, so if you think the number of places is too few, please put this in the comments.
In addition tomorrow Friday 20th January a parents meeting will be held at 9am in the Junior Dining Room; some more explanations about the proposal will be given and eventual questions can hopefully be answered.
Please try to attend this meeting and complete the consultation!
