I am having trouble viewing the sitemap on my website www.creativespacemgmt.com

The challenge now is I have deleted the page that was automatically created by gsitecrawler previously so it could load a fresh page that functioned properly.

After removing the old page upon upload of the new crawl the program does not create a new page - it says it uploaded the file OK - but I cannot find it anywhere. Question - is this supposed to be a page to work in the background - and not be visible within the site??

If so, How do I test the sitemap to see if it is functioning properly??

Thanks For your help!

Frank,

Delete the site in GSC >> Use the new site manager to create it again
(this will add the manual link to your home page) >> set up the ftp to
upload to your home directory >> Crawl the site >> click on generate
tab in tool bar >> check box to upload Google and Yahoo site maps ( do
not check notify unless you have created account in Google Webmaster
Tools and Yahoo site Explorer >> There is really no need to check for
functionality but if you want you can type in the URL in the address
bar in your browser >> they will be something like this depending on
what you choose in the GSC settings >> http://example.com/sitemap.xml.gz
or http://sample.com/sitemap.xml or http://sample.com/sitemap.txt >>
Google and Yahoo both will check the sitemap and report any errors >>
you do need to submit the sitemaps to both Google Webmaster Tools and
Yahoo Site Explorer.

There is more concerning filters, robots.txt files, and so on but get
the sitemaps created and submitted first.

The sitemap created and the file gss.xsl have to be uploaded to the
root folder of your website - the same place your index page
(homepage) is located.

You ought to be able to view it in the browser then at
www.creativespacemgmt.com/sitemap.xml or whatever name the file has
(if it was that huge maybe it's a sitemap_index.xml file).

Do a manual upload by FTP yourself of the sitemap file(s) and
gss.xsl .

Christina,

Oops I guess I missed something once again...doh. I would have left
it alone but I figured you were "occupied"...LOL.

I was "occupied" writing up the first reponse in the other thread LOL

Anyway, there's a bit of a misunderstanding there (on my part, no
doubt), as the site is really small apparently. So all the talk of SQL
serevr and gz and sitemap index and all that is useless.

LOL...hopefully between the two of use he can get it done.

btw...My computer crashed and I lost my donation key. I sent John an
email a couple of weeks ago and no response. Do you think I can get a
replacement, or should I just pony up a couple of more dollars.

If I was you, I'd set up a direct debit and pay him a donation weekly
for the rest of your life...
(But then I've also just emailed John asking for a %age ;) )

Chris,

Really glad to see that you are up and feeling better. I will set
that up right away I know John would appreciate it, and maybe he would
actually check his email....LOL.

Check your old emails, can't you?
They'd be in gmail if that's what you were using back then.

Thanks anyway.

Guess I will give again before that pop-up makes me crazy. I know

Christina,

Probably deleted it like the idiot I am some times because when I do
spring cleaning nothing is safe. I know you can't issue a code, but I
would much rather give you money than John....LOL....at least you
respond to my messages.

btw...What is up with John it looks like he would return emails
eventually because there is no way he can be that busy or important.

Sorry, but where and when did you donate? Do you have a confirmation email from Paypal?
Whom did you contact and when? This is your first post here in this group.
