Problem uploading sitemap

So this is weird. I am setting up FTP transfers and when I "Test FTP
settings", it responds with OK. The IP address is in there, the
connection user name, etc, and it returns with a CONNECTION OK
message. All seems well.

Testing connection to xx.x.xxx.xxx...

When I then try to upload the test XML file I get an error message....

The IP address and user info is not displayed as it was in the
CONNECTION OK message, lmost like it was left empty in the parameter
fields. Thinking it could have something to do with the "Directory"
parameter, I tried using "/", "/public_html to no avail.

If I remember correctly, I did have this working at one time. Since
that time I think that I reinstalled GSC for some reason or another.
GSC is crawling okay.

Any suggestions?

The answer is in this line:

Current restricted directory is /

You need to point to the correct root directory where you are supposed to
upload, not /, that must be the home directory which is above the root.

Maybe the root directory is called /public_html or /httdocs or whatever it
is on your server.

I have pointed it (Directory) to /public_html and the same problem persists.  I can easily read/write /public_html via my other FTP programs.

okay, all fixed ... sort of.

I stopped and restarted GSC and it works jut fine.  So either there is a bug is GSC, or Windows XP, or a supporting DLL file, or whatever.  Something was acting real goofy but I guess I won;t worry about that unless I see it again.
