i have a website http:// www.arrangeitlifestylemanagement.co uk which
i set up a couple of years ago and subsequently added googe adsence
ads to it to earn xtra money. i work for a bank and have no experience
in building websites so i use a hosting co called fasthosts who offer
a sitebuilder service.

having heard about the potential benefits of google sitemaps i decided
to add it to my website -hence how i have come to gsite crawler to
help me do this.

i am struggling.

having done what i thought i needed to do via gsite crawler i have
recd an error message on google webmaster saying GENERAL HTTP ERROR:
404 NOT FOUND

i have used various sitemap "addresses" ie http://www.arrangeitlifestylemanagement.co.uk/
and http://www.arrangeitlifestylemanagement.co.uk/sitemap.xml

i would appreciate some help

i am more than happy to phone one of you to talk me through it even if
you are abroad.

thanking you in advance for your help

Well the file sitemap.xml is not there or not called by that name.
It should be in the same location as where the homepage itself is
( i.e. index.html ).

Are you sure you actually uploaded this file to your hosting space?

And what method did you use to upload it?

Did you let GSiteCrawler to uplod ti by FTP and did that work? - then
check which folder it went to, might have pointed it to the wrong
spot.

Did you use your own FTP program to do that? Then check again to which
location you uploaded and move it where it should be - that's same
place as index.html .

Did you use some control panel for your hosting to uplaod a file?
again make sure you upload to the same foler where index.html is
located.

I doubt the sitebuilder lest you upload files like this which are not
part of normal website pages. It might have put it in a special folder
where it's no use to you. You will need to use other control panel
functions.
