Dear All,
Since 2008 the GSICS community has used IASI-A (i.e IASI onboard MetOp-A) as a reference instrument to monitor concurrently flying GEO and LEO, IR instruments. The high stability that it retained most of its life span, within design specifications performance and a wide spectrum that spans most of the channels of in-orbit IR instruments has been extremely helpful in monitoring instruments and detecting anomalies in them.
We have now been notified that the MetOp -A ( platform carrying IASI-A ) would be entering its end of life phase. Please see the attached timeline of this transition phase sent by Dorothee Coppens at EUMETSAT.
