We should have Standard Konkani...It should include all the words
( and expressions) used
by Konkani speaking people from not only Goa,but also from
Mangalore,Karwar,Bhatlal,Mumbai, and other parts of India .
All those words which have becomealmost a part of Konkani people`s
speech,(whether adopted or adapted from Portuguese,Latin ,English or
Persianor Arabic ) should be included. There are specific wordsused
by specific communities or 'Trades' ( Khalashis,Mistries,Weavers
etc),,,such words should find a place in the Dictionary of Standard
Konkani. It is possible to do this only with the help of reprentatives
of all communities and Trades. If this seems to be a tall order,at
least in the initial stages, representatives of major "Literate and
Educated' communities should be involved.
As a very very small contribution ,I have given some words in

column promoting Konkani usage .At present it is compiled by Shri arun
S.Ubhaykar.

Kanar saraswat August Issue received today. "Konkani saurabh" gives a feast of new words/expressions used by konkani people.
