Surfing - Official Deets

Sweet. Seems like we should have enough drivers. So here's the plan: Meet in front of Schwab at 9 am on Saturday if you want to come, and bring your car nearby (if you have one). Based on the wave forecast, it seems like our best bet is going to be Lindamar Beach in Pacifica, which is about 30-40 minutes away. There is a surf shop there, and I'm going to call them ahead of time to make sure they reserve enough rental boards and wetsuits for all of us. Cost should be ~$30 for the day. Other than that, it should be pretty simple. I'll teach a basic tutorial when we get there, and then I expect that all the people with surfing experience will be able to coach the first timers once we get out into the water. Get stoked! Hey Pete,

Couple of a questions about surfing details. Guy here in Munger (also called Peter :) ) is coming along, and wanted to know what kind of wetsuits they'd have - hes says 5mm minimum needed for water temperature at this time of year. You think they'll have enough of the thickest kind for all of us ? He has a car as well, so he'll be driving.

They'll prob rent 4-3 wetsuits, which I think will be sufficient. That's what I wear this time of year, and I don't bust out my 6-5 until about November. I'm going to be calling a guy I know to see if he can hook us up with all the gear.

To all those who want to come surfing:   Because of the large size of the group, I need to make some changes to our plans.   1. Departure time is now bumped up to 8 am from Schwab. This should ensure that we'll be back in time for the barbeque.   2. I am coordinating with a guy who runs a local surf school, and he will be bringing all of the appropriate gear. Cost will be $30 for board and wetsuit or $15 for one or the other. Please plan to give me this money in cash tomorrow, as I will be writing him a single check to streamline the process.   3. Our destination is now changed to Manresa State Beach, which is just south of Santa Cruz. Plan is to arrive there just before 9:30 am. So that drivers can mapquest the location, here is the specific address of where we will be parking (it's a big parking lot):   Gospodnevich Rd Watsonville, CA 95076   4. As I said before, this is going to be a surf trip for beginners and first timers, so don't worry. The waves are going to be 1-2 feet (i.e. very small), and we're going to take it super easy.
