Dear developers and triallists.

We are getting closers to launching the new version of the GS1 Digital Link Resolver so, by this message, let me share timescales with you.

The actual resolving service will continue as normal. Although we will be moving Resolver architecture behind the scenes we can do so without causing any disruption or performance hit to https://id.gs1.org
It is only data entry that will be noticeable:
  1. On Friday 27th March at around 9 am UK time (10 am CET / 4am EST), we'll be shutting down the Data Entry web application located at https://data.gs1.org/ui/
  2. Throughout Friday we're backing up the service then over the weekend 28-29th March, we'll be transferring the data you have saved to the new database.
  3. On Monday 30th March, a new simple web page will exist at the same location which you can use to upload files of Resolver entries. This new web page will also allow you to download your existing entries into the same file format.
  4. All accounts in the database on Friday 27th March will be emailed with a new unique 'authentication key' string of characters which you will use when you upload/download your files of data, so we know it's you. There's no logging in and updating single entries - paste in your authentication key and upload files with 1 to thousands of Resolver entries in one go.
  5. Also on Monday 30th March, the new GS1 Resolver Community Edition V2.0 will be available from our Github repository.
I'll send details via this emailing list as we count down to that weekend of 28-29th March.

The only caveat to these dates will be the availability and health of the people required to make this happen given unfolding world coronavirus events.
Worst case, you will be able to resolve existing data but not insert new data or change existing data until the new data entry page is live.

We'll do our best for you, though!

Best regards
Nick Lansley
