GS1 Resolver's Data Entry Web Address Is Now Moved

As part of the move of GS1 Resolver to its new global production home, we are retiring Resolver's

original domain name of data.gs1.org and preparing for the move of id.gs1.org from

the triallists' service to the forthcoming production service.

Instead, our triallists can access the data entry server at its new home:
https://resolver-dv1.gs1.org/ui

From Monday 8th June 2020, the service at id.gs1.org will cease for triallists, and

will move to the new production Resolver service.

However, you can continue to enter your own data at:
https://resolver-dv1.gs1.org/ui

...and resolve them through your apps and web browsers at:
https://resolver-dv1.gs1.org

For example until 8th June you can resolve your data like this:
https://id.gs1.org/gtin/03023160007754

From now on - and exclusively beyond 8th June - you can also resolve the same data like this:
https://resolver-dv1.gs1.org/gtin/03023160007754

The data entry web domain, data.gs1.org, has stopped directing data entry traffic into the Resolver and is showing this

same information as is this message.

That service will be turned off in the next few days, so please use https://resolver-dv1.gs1.org/ui to update your data.

Hi Everyone,

This note from Nick is particularly important. It means that if your apps/demos depend on data in the resolver today, they will break next month unless you point to the new trialists' (developers) resolver.

We'll run the trialists' resolver in parallel with id.gs1.org until 8 June, so both will work as now. But from 8 June, the data in the system now will only be available from https://resolver-dv1.gs1.org. This is because we're getting ready for the formal launch of id.gs1.org as a service. Nothing will change technically, but operationally, any link discovered through id.gs1.org from July onwards will be brand-authorised - and that's a big change. (I said nothing has changed technically, actually, Nick has re-built the resolver twice this year. It's now running super-fast - and all the code is in GitHub should you wish to use it.)

Hope this makes sense - shout at Nick and me if not.

Meanwhile, the standards-setting working group is getting back together this Thursday. There are a bunch of things we need to work on, most of which are listed in section 10.1 of the current standard. If you're not in the group and would like to join, see the joining instructions. The thing that will be of most direct relevance here is that one of the work items is to formally standardise the structure of the JSON object returned in response to a linkType=all request. So expect a change to that later in the year - join the group and be one of the decision makers!

Cheers

Phil
