Hello,

I did a lot of web research and can't find any information on below
code that keeps reoccurring in my bike, a 2007 GS1200 US version.
I did find some information stating that ZFE is the controller for the
lights, heated accessories, horn and power sockets, but when I search
the electrical diagrams or BMW DVD there is no reference to a "wake-up
line" whether this is a an actual wire or this is just a terminology
for something else, so I can't really trace the short if one exists.
There are no other symptoms and everything is operating apparently
normal, so I keep clearing the code every time.

hi Vic, you show a fault code in the ZFE, but add the BMSK info - pls do
an AutoScan and attach the html file or copy/paste it - then we can see
all the modules and codes

thanks

Hi Stephan,

Using latest Beta I connect to my GS911, select model R1200GS (2004+) -for my 2007 - but cannot locate the Autoscan function. I'm sure it is right under my nose yet don't see it

Attached are the two CSV files, one with engine off another after starting; please note I had already cleared the wake up line code previously and is not showing now, although I tried using every switch and lever combination possible in hoping this would come up again.

Thanks!

Don't select the model, first. Took me forever to figure that out.
Looks like you are as slow as I am :-)

Hey Hexcode... how about putting the Autoscan button on the model
specific pages, too. It would save you some customer support work,
I bet.

LOL, True :-) Thanks to your hint I was able to finally find this
function, but don't see worth posting the data since it's same
information I already collected and pasted in this thread.
The error seems to stay clear for a while and may take riding to make
it come up again.
If only I could find out if the "wake-up" line really means a physical
wire and where I can track down the potential short-circuit; just
wondering if the GS911 signals and error text labels are picked from
the controller's actual output ad-literam, dubbed via common sense
knowledge of what they represent, or a combination of both.

Hello Stephan,

Apologies for being so persistent :) after riding about two tanks of
gas, the same error appeared.
This time I collected the autoscan report below, I hope to find the
meaning of this error (unless an internal controller issue as I see no
ill effects on the motorcycle functionality)
Electrical diagrams show nothing marked "wake-up line".. so maybe
this message is only some internal software message coming from
controller?
My only concern is leaving on a 6000 mile trip with this error and
hope it does not evolve in something critical on the road.

Many thanks in advance for any input in reading and understanding this
issue.

the kind of feedback we like! ;-)

I'll double check, but I think that's already in the new code...

hi VIC

I had a look at the Electrical diagrams, and I do see a WL (I take this
to be the Wake-up Line) - this goes from pin22 on your ZFE-Basic to pin5
of Instrument Cluster and pin3 of Alarm/TyrePressure module. This is a
Green/White wire.

best,
Stephan

hi Stephan,

I do see this WL line now, exactly as you mention on page 8; will
check it to instrument cluster and Anti Theft System Control Module
(which am assuming is the EWS antenna ring). I noticed my instrument
cluster has quite a bit of vibration and shakes when engine is at idle
but I attributed this to to be normal nature of this bike, however I
will check thoroughly/disassemble to see if maybe there is something
loose or wire insulation was damaged in that section.

Thank you Sir, your help is much appreciated!

no, EWS ring antenna is directly connected to the BMSK...

the DWA is the anti-theft alarm unit.. (if one is fitted) and shares a
control module with RDS (tyre pressure)

Rough idle is a common issue on the R-series... I suggest doing an Idle
actuator calibration, and make sure you're Throttle body synchronization
is good (however, before setting TB synch, make sure valve clearances
are prefect!) ..lots of info on the forums.. also see our tech page

best,
Stephan
